I taught myself how to sing with my vacuum cleaner. Its monotone sound was not as simple as it seemed - though monotone, there is more than one tone at the same time. I touched these tones by singing to them, and changed them. They changed me. We met, and the sound vibrated. I didn’t know which part of the sound was me and which part of the sound was the vacuum cleaner. I sounded mechanic, and the vacuum cleaner started singing. We were one. The vacuum cleaner was more alive, and I was less so. I was one with the vacuum cleaner, which made me no longer be myself. It was liberating.
